I have to wake him up and have him do his snoreproofing so I can go to sleep.

But I don't want to wake him up. It's so mean!

Is it meaner to wake him up briefly or for him to keep you awake all night?

We've also found that his snoriness doesn't sleep at all well if he's allowed to snore all night, so I don't feel mean waking him at all.

Perhaps I value my sleep too much!

Tell us about this "snoreproofing". I'll bet that there are a few of us who would welcome anything to mitigate DHs snoring.
