Hello Sue

Linnea has left home. A little girl called Sue has come to live with us. She asked us all who we were, addresses us as Rob and Ailbhe, and doesn't know which room in the house is which. She's very polite, though.

ETA: Sue doesn't know who any of Linnea's friends are, didn't know which page of the book I ought to start at (though she almost "guessed" twice before she realised she must be wrong) and forgot to bring her pyjamas and her toothbrush. Luckily, Linnea had left hers behind, so Sue borrowed them.

She takes a scientific interest in Linnea's artwork and toys. Especially the paleontology toy.

I did ask her, at bedtime, if she could tell Linnea how much I love her, next time she sees her. "But I don't usually see Linnea much," she said.

When my little sister was about four, she left home for a while and my mother hired a maid named Sue. The maid slept in the conveniently empty bed and sometimes set the table.

I awwwww'd!

Though I hope Linnea comes home eventually. It's too lovely a name to waste!

Hunh.

When I was that age, I never left home.

I DID change my name once, though. I decided that the name "Ian" was just too weird (it was a lot less common around here when I was four than it is today), and I no longer wanted to be "Ian David Osmond." So I changed it.

To "Ian Jeremy Osmond."

Teehee.

I'm happy that she is so polite and fitting in so well with the family. Doesn't her family miss her?
And how convenient that she fits into Linnea's clothes.

I hope that she is also very kind to Linnea's little sister.

Hehehe. Felicity (exactly the same age as Linnea give or take 5 hours or so...) decided the other day that we all had to call her Anna. She kept this up for about an hour, then forgot all about it. Since then, we have periodic panicky moments where she says 'Mummy, Mummy, don't forget my name is Anna!' And then she forgets again herself, so we conveniently forget as well. :-)

Linnea is showing far more dedication to it all than Felicity! :-D

More like 10 hours then - Fel was born at 3:something a.m. on 1st May - I am ashamed to admit that I can't remember offhand exactly what time - I can remember with the other two; it is third child syndrome again!

Awwww! Adam has had AdamX as his alter ego for many many years, and Holly for the past 18 months. He's ever so serious about it too, even at 9 :)

I had a pen name around that age (Kate Louvinia Fernhop, romance novelist extraordinaire) but I think I only insisted on being called "Kate" when my mother and I were discussing writing.

There's a theory that states that if Linnea goes away, she sill be replaced by another little girl even more talented and likeable.

There is another theory that states that this already happened.
