Apology

I'd like to apologise to my practice child -
We often got it wrong though we tried to get it right
We had to make mistakes to learn what we had to do
So that we could get it right when we had baby number two.

Also,
Second children get far more confident parents
Who can follow through on instinct where a first-time parent daren't.

My mother acted as a nanny, more or less, for two of my cousins before having me. She counts THOSE as her practice children -- and THEY both turned out okay.

Oh, I just found a whole new load of mistakes to make with #2. Very different children; very different challenges.
