Please, please don't rain
Sep. 16th, 2008 02:34 pmThe forecast said no rain. I've just hung a load of nappies on the line, and two loads of clothes. The children are happily drawing with chalk on the patio (you have no idea how posh I thought a patio was when I was a child). And the air feels heavy and damp and cool and there are navy blue, grey and purple clouds lowering overhead. If we only had a moor, it'd be a Brontë sky (If we only had a moor, the little-known number from The Wizard of Id the musical, perhaps?).
On the other other hand I've brought in a load of dry bedding for my bed, and lots of clothes, which I now have to put away.
I think I need a new Chorewars team. One with more people with children on it. My housework burden is just way way way over what anyone else in my party does.

Date: 2008-09-16 03:27 pm (UTC)We had a patio when I was young, though I don't think we were allowed to chalk on it. We used to make watery hand and foot prints (and occasional rebellious bottom prints) using the water out of the bird bath! We weren't a posh family at all, but we were incredibly lucky with a huge garden. That is the one thing I really really wish I could somehow provide for my children.
Mind you, we have a small back yard of concrete, and the children can chalk all they like on the ground out there.
