I've scrubbed up Linnea's tutu and Rob is arranging to collect the repaired trike. I've bought jellybabies and sorted out meeting her friend Buttercup. I need to find tights and ballet slippers and some cash money. For tomorrow, I am bringing Linnea and her friend to the BALLET.

Specifically to see Angelina Ballerina at the Hexagon in Reading, but I fully expect there to be ballet.

The first ballet I ever saw had rat suits, not mouse suits, but I expect this will do just as well. She's dressing up (I must remember to bring a cardi and trousers for her in case it gets cold) and her friend may or may not dress up, it's hard to say.

Then we will go and sit in a theatre which will probably be full of pot-bellied round-bottomed little girls in leotards, tutus and Disney Princess ballgowns. The queues in the loos should be fun.

I'm very excited. She's been to the theatre once before, for CBeebies, but I think this is a little more grown up. If this goes down well I shall be looking into other things which we can afford at times when I can bring her and not the two-year-old who would be bored silly.

I remember being brought to see A Child's Christmas In Wales when I was about 9 ish. I think it must have been 9, because of Wikipedia. I loved the bit about the teeny weeny itsy bitsy real live machine gun.

I'm hoping to go to London soon to do some museuming. This is all much more exciting now - the stuff outside the home - because Linnea is just so much more into it than she used to be.

Unsurprising, but cool.

k's 4.5, and sometimes I'm surprised by what she's excited about and not excited about. She LOVED the art museum last spring (especially the suits of armor!) but she wasn't quite as crazy about some of the Fair or Irishfest and dancing. She's unpredictable.

But then almost 40 years ago, my dad had to chase me around the local Arena during a circus because somehow the show wasn't as exciting as running up and down the huge ramps and around the huge walkways outside the seating areas.
