Last night I went on a pre-arranged after-bedtime trip to IKEA with two women who live on our street. We got back a little before 1 am.

But unexpectedly, an up to date catalogue arrived yesterday afternoon, and I flicked through it, and saw exactly the kind of bed we wanted for the girls! Linnea used to love her very high bunk bed but since she started using the loo at night it makes her anxious. So now they will have a trundle bed thing instead. Bought last night to be delivered tomorrow.

This evening Rob and I moved the high bed to the spare room. Now, all along one wall, is the high bed with the sofabed under it, and the cot. The high bed has no mattress yet though. It wasn't sufficiently urgent.

This morning Alison and I assembled a stair-shaped storage unit so the dining room no longer needs a high bookcase!

We are really getting places. We're gaining wallspace for artwork; I have framed several photos of my children and the recent houseguests for the new wallspace. And soon I will put them on the interweb so you can see them too.

Growing up, I had a twin bed/trundle bed set. Okay, I got it for my 4th birthday. If you do the math, they bought the trundle about 48 hours before my sister was conceived, which is something I don't want to dwell on, but it worked out well -- the two-beds-surprise-little-sister -- because with our very small room, I could either move the bed to get into the dresser or to let the kid have access to her bed, and since the trundle had no headboard, I could read by the light of the nightlight over the far end of the bed.

One warning, and I'm not sure how trundles are made since 1970, if you get the scary iron frame, try to get protective edges for it. My sister managed to slip while playing hide-and-seek on Christmas Eve, 1973, and she got a gash in her head from a corner. Ew.

I've still got the twin bed in the attic. Maybe I should drag it down for K. She's four and half and getting to be pretty much too big for the toddler bed....

Ikea - wonderful.
Am underslept. Took 3 readings before my brain stopped telling me you'd framed a guest.

What is a trundle bed? Kate did have a cabin bed, but ended up not liking it :/
