On the Wii

We've been playing on the Wii a bit. We have the Wii Fit Plus, because we got the Wii second-hand so it was easy to justify.

Rob is excellent at the Penguin Iceberg Slide. Linnea and Emer love cycling, especially the bit where you can repeatedly crash into walls. I find the way of playing much more congenial than any other computer game I can remember; it's sociable, because there's something for people who aren't playing to watch (Rob is a fabulous flying chicken, by the way) and it doesn't seem to give me RSI or hurt my SPD too much, though I've not risked yoga yet.

Linnea had a go at snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, and jogging, and turned them all into dangerous sports with a high mortality rate.

The day Rob bought a silicone cover for the balance board was the day a child was too engrossed in a game to go to the bathroom; Wii wee. Emer is terribly confused by the homonym.

Linnea really, really likes making new people - new Miis - and naming them. It's the dullest thing to watch on the Wii that we've found so far, though.

Chicken flying and doing sums with one's bottom are probably the most amusing.

I love doing sums with my bum, but can't get the chickens to fly at all. Lachlan's favourite is the penguins. He thinks yoga is boring to watch me do (I have a 20 min routine) but quite likes it himself.

I like the sums and the chickens. Rob is great at chickens and I'm bearably ok. The children's response to any stress during the game is to flap harder, which doesn't work.

Kate & Holly have about 10 miis each, it's vaguely amusing when we play baseball or when they are in the park when we go jogging.

The proportions work out best if they are as tall and as fat as they can go, I find.

Well done Rob - I am useless at the Penguin Iceberg slide, I just can't seem to get the hang of it and it makes me really cross really quickly!

We don't have Wii Fit Plus yet but doing sums with one's bottom sounds most intriguing!

Rob hardly moves at all for the slide, it's very subtle.

Unlike the chicken-flying or the sum-bum. Those aren't subtle at all.

our two are obsessed with sports resort, which we got after a year of the first sports. I too get very bored by mii making, but they seem to have run out of friends now, thank goodness!

I doubt it, my two just ran out of people they could think of, and I didn't suggest making up people...

We have miis of all our family & close friends, plus about 10 each of them, plus the dog. Though, the dog is a person.
