Sleeping sickness
Jun. 19th, 2008 05:56 pmI'm not aware of being in terrible pain but a friend phoned me up today to check I was ok and tell me I'd looked grey yesterday. And this afternoon I fell asleep.
I woke twice; the first time, I thought "I should get Rob to come home" but couldn't move enough to phone him. I could hear Linnea playing in her room and Emer was with me; I hope that if I hadn't been able to place the children adrenaline would have kicked in, but I don't know. The second time I got to the phone and told him to come home, then went straight back to sleep. As it happens he only left work about 20 minutes early but I don't think a parent who falls asleep on the job like that is safe.
I wonder whether my ability to switch off pain is coming back? I used to be able to break bones and not notice, pour boiling water on my wrist and hardly even feel wetness let alone heat, etc. It's not convenient. It's dangerous, in fact. I'm hoping it's something else.
However, my leg seems much better and has a wider range of movement - I can wiggle my ankle now - and Rob is very understanding about the whole thing. And I stayed awake long enough to make bread and feed the children, so that's ok.
Tomorrow - swimming and BfN lesson. So now I have an essay to finish and one to write. Ho hum.
