Still shrinking
Jun. 9th, 2008 07:53 pmI mended a blouse I bought for my honeymoon and didn't wear because it turned out to be a little too small around the waist. It's too big now.
Maybe I really am shrinking. The only way to tell for sure would be to dig out my actual wedding dress and try it on, which would be fun, but really...
Anyway, today was fabulous. I worked really hard all morning and achieved magnificent domesticity. Linnea's hair is long enough at the back for a ponytail (photos may follow) and it was incredibly sunny so in spite of sunscreen and hats and shade I had to keep Emer indoors for part of the day. I put salt and water in the paddling pool for the first time this year.
It was too hot for proper meals but we had cold strawberry clafouti and hot custard and it was great. Ms A popped round for a visit sans bebe and we had a nice chat though she did find it odd socialising with children without her own child there. She's making progress on the job front and not taking anything like a doormat so that's good.
A sling I loaned out arrived in the post and so did the slings I have on sale-or-return for tomorrow's Eco Baby thing at the True Food market. I might bring some of my second-hand nappies to give away, too, but I'm not sure.
Emer has a word meaning "my turn" (Dhadhun, approx) and also pointed at Rob's coat hanging in the hall and said "Daddy, gone, work!" very sadly. She seemed worried.
Linnea was telling me all about archaeologists and was delighted to discover that her friend Dave is one, but just plain doesn't believe he doesn't dig up dinosaur bones. "Maybe he will dig up a stegosaurus!" she said. "All the archaeologists will fly in in spaceships and dig up PEOPLE."
I don't know where she heard the word. She was pronouncing it "archie - ologist," soft ch as in church, until I corrected her.
