Rob is considering not bringing his work phone with him on our holiday to Ireland for my sister's wedding (and probably another sister's first baby's birthday, but these things are not schedulable).

And the reason we've been feeling poorer and poorer is that his work have forgotten to increase his pay in line with inflation, something neither of us has ever encountered before (me because most jobs only lasted a year anyway, him because his previous companies all gave regular payrises). He's about to have an appraisal, so I expect things are going to change soon; he's never had an appraisal before either.

Oh, the complications of going from a small friends-and-family business to a large Real Company With HR And Everything! My heart, as they say, bleeds.

Oh, and my friend Ms A got offered another job but didn't take it. It was good to be offered it though.

Below inflation pay rises are common in the private sector and have been for quite a few years now.. thankfully they are now beginning to be implemented on the public sector too, seeing that everyone in the private sector pays for the public sector.. what would be nice is seeing the politicians rejecting the pay rises they vote for themselves..
