When my younger brother was very young - perhaps two or three or so? - he had a Book. This was, very emphatically, His Book; it was tattered and crumpled and had random scribbles and tears, basically not much more than a fist-sized lump of printed paper, but he would curl up to 'read' it, and so on...
About ten years later, I found it in a cupboard at my grandparents' house - it was, of all things, a bilingual French-English pocket dictionary, long since having lost its covers.
