Linnea's First Swimming Lesson
Apr. 25th, 2008 06:03 pmShe is enrolled in the 2-4 year olds class. So we got to the pool with three minutes to get her out of her clothes and into her swimsuit, which we managed, and then went to the pool only to discover that she's the only child enrolled! So she had a private swimming lesson for 30 minutes. I tried not to hover but did watch a bit from out of her sight in the showers. Next week, Emer and I will swim in the other pool during Linnea's lesson, I think.
Linnea swam through hoops, and learned to kick while lying on her back (with floats, for some reason), and apart from that, she's not saying owt. That's fine; it means it's her thing, not our thing, and although I do, as usual, want to know all about everything all the time, it's not actually essential. She was very good and cooperative about dressing and undressing at the pool, so that was convenient.
She even agreed to take her goggles off, which I was pleased about, because she very rarely does. She has a serious emotional attachment to them and will cheerfully wear them with the eyepieces full (or half full!) of water.
Her swimsuit is a grown-up-lady's one that covers her chest, and has crocodiles on it. She loves it.
