Today I had to make Linnea a model of the human eyeball and demonstrate pupil dilation in different light levels. I made a ring of my hands and showed how the iris works, and looked at "the dark inside my hands" and the light outside the window so she could see different pupil sizes. She was interested, made her own models, drew some diagrams, and said she didn't WANT a pupil any more because she wanted eyes with no holes in.

I... really can't respond to that.

obviously the answer is to make holes in everything and see where they are useful and where not. or sew a sleeve closed.

It's not a hole really, though, it's like a window that doesn't open, but has curtains to control the light. It's got the cornea covering it, like window glass.

That's as good as S telling us she was going to keep her babies in her leg, not her tummy. You see, she wants long babies, not fat ones.

Or [livejournal.com profile] deyo, when his mom asked if he wanted a grilled cheese sandwich, telling her that he wanted boy cheese, and actually, just one chee?
