We went to town and I took Linnea ice-skating. We came home, had a lovely lunch, and were visited by old friends. We had a fabulous dinner and the children went to bed. Linnea and I watched most of Mary Poppins. Emer begged me to remove her brand-new nappy and then took it apart (nappy, wrap, paper liner) and used the parts to make a doll's bed. Emer says "Bu" for "Boots" and kisses and waves bye-bye. Linnea was very naughty and came and apologised in full ("Mammy I am very sorry I [state offense]") totally unprompted.

And we got another birthday invitation for Saturday, which doesn't clash with the first one, so we can attend both, but it does mean rather more shopping.

So we saw the new year in with family play, physical activity outdoors, time at home with friends, two meals eaten together as a family at the dining table, amazing developmental steps on the parts of both children, and stunning quantities of physical beauty from both of them too.

After all, tomorrow is another day.

That's impressive. (esp. considering how many grown-ups can't manage that much or try to substitute empty apologies. May I offer congratulations to both daughter and mom? :-)
