Rob and I were given Antibiotics for Children by J&T, and I was and am delighted. A gift that warmed my heart and was actually really useful to someone. LOTS of someones. Thank you.
The only people who got 'physical' Christmas gifts this year were my mother (who got hand-made and re-gifted items) and my father (who got things he needed for moving into the nursing home). Everyone else got charity cards, and it was great fun matching the gift to the interests/personality of the recipients, so my sister got "Educate a girl in China" and Taras' grandmother for "Warm blankets for children", etc. Many of our friends got either a pair of breeding rabbits or olive trees planted in Gaza, depending on whether or not the friends were vegetarians :)
It also made our Christmas much less stressful, because the vast majority of the present buying was accomplished in one session on the charity's website. And we've had very good feedback from everyone. No one has said "I would have rather you got me a *thing*".
