I ticked "am not ill", but in the interests of full disclosure, I've just this second made a honey, lime and lemon drink (supposed to be honey and lemon, but it turned out the lemon was half mouldy) because my throat is very slightly sore.
It is *not a sodding hangover* if it doesn't start until early afternoon and doesn't feel like a hangover. it is coincidentally the day after the work party.
Pol's annoyed because I caught his deathly cold while he was on day three, snorted salt water religiously every time my nose itched, ate zinc and vitamin C and ended up sneezing and dripping for, oh, nearly four hours.
YB came down with something a month ago, because he goes to nursery. He has a cycle of a few days of being fine then a few days of streaming nose and hacking cough. OB and I take turns to catch it. Two weeks ago I ended up taking three days off work because no-one else needed to catch the racking cough. It's still there in the background but now sneezes are developing.
This is one reason I thought it was very important that someone was very much available when YB starts school next year - that's the time he's going to get lots of bugs (just like when he started nursery), and someone needs to be there to look after him with no work pressure.
I generally expect to have some kind of low-grade bug this time of year because of the university cycle. All the freshers come and share their bugs and get ill. Then the academics get ill. Then admin. By which time it's Christmas break, everyone goes home and comes back with a whole new set...
We're currently not in the UK but T (19 months) is ill despite the sunny weather!V snotty nose, barking cough and high temp on and off for last 36 hours, I think his ears are hurting him and also that he's developing a chest infection. Will probably have to introduce him to the Aussie medical system on Monday!
