Back to life
Nov. 24th, 2007 09:10 pmI'm reincarnating even as I type. It's been a good day. Over the past two days, I've got our finances sorted out again so we know where we are, got to grips with the Christmas card and gift lists, brought the house back from three weeks of being ill (the dining table is clear for meals now, and no longer has the extra leaf in the middle which we really, really don't need) and also the solar heated water plumbers finished the installation.
It's not a pretty thing to have on the roof, but there are granite-clad houses in this street, so it could be much worse. And it's coming up to temperature. It's already warm enough to help the boiler, and after a few days we expect it to get warm enough to bypass the boiler.
Then, today I also went to the True Food Co-Op to get the pantry back to normal. Oh, and last night I made real bread - after weeks of living on packaged bread and a whole week of white sliced pan, it was gorgeous to have fresh, warm wholemeal with seeds and things. And salt on the crust instead of in the mix :)
Last night we sorted out 2007 filing, which turned out to include some 2006 filing because I was ill in December, January and February so it didn't get done. I've also sorted the EU stationery mountain, and we don't need to buy ANY stationery other than printer paper for about a decade, and printer paper we may need to buy within 12 months but I wouldn't bet on it.
We need to clear the things from the spare room and our bedroom into the attic, and then I need to build an airing cupboard, but that's pretty trivial. In fact, now that we know Emer can sleep though angle grinders and masonry drills, it should be easy.
It's also easy to find fair trade clothing for toddlers online, but harder to find it for children over 3. Linnea is n 3-4 or 4-5 clothing now, and the selection seems fairly limited.
But look at the dress I found for Emer!
