I've just been talking ot the police
ailbhe i'm waiting for them to phone me back
ailbhe i was woken about half one by a child shouting dad, dad, dad, dad
ailbhe took me a while to realise it wasn't my child
ailbhe outside
ailbhe looked out the window, boy in rear of car
ailbhe dad walkign towards car shouting on the phone
ailbhe 1.30 am mark you
ailbhe last thing dad shouted into phone before driving off was "i've got to get rid of these fucking kids"
ailbhe I called 999 and theycalled back about 10 mins ago
ailbhe think they know whoit is and the kids are not in physical danger
ailbhe they will call me backwhen they've confirmed the kids are safe
ailbhe i'm shaking and crying
ailbhe so naturally i go toafp
ailbhe i was so hoping it was nothing and i was wasting police time but apparently my informatino was invaluable
ailbhe i didn't wan tit to be invaluable
ailbhe i want it to be nothing
ailbhe verysensible, i have made myself non-caffeine tea
ailbhe with sugar for shock
ailbhe i shoudlhave gone out, i almost did
ailbhe until i saw the man coming ot the car
he sounded sofrightened
ailbhe and the dad sounded so angry
ailbhe desperately angry
ailbhe i thought he was going to kill themall
ailbhe we're near the river
ailbhe people do awful things all the time
ailbhe it just took me solong ot wake *up*
ailbhe If I'd gone outas soon as I realised it was a child outside, I could have spoken to him
ailbhe them
ailbhe Someone
ailbhe or at least got a proper vehicle reg
ailbhe I confirmed a lot of details that make them think it was someone who came to their attention earlier

Edit: The children have been found and are fine. The police called me back.

I'm glad they are OK. And you did something, something that helped the cops help them.

:)

So glad they are fine. And kudos to you for doing something - lots of people don't.

I'm glad those kids are okay, though "the police think they know who it is" does not bode well. I hope their okayness lasts a while.

Scary indeed.

How awful *hugs* The children are lucky to have been near someone who called the police, I would have called too.

This is a hard thing to say, and will also be a hard thing for you to hear.

Not only did you do the right thing by calling the police, you also did the right thing by _not going out there_ to the children.

If he was that angry, it's very likely he'd have taken his anger out on you, either verbally or physically, which would have left you in a much worse position to help them.

You did the right thing. For everyone.

You did the right thing, and the most important thing is that you're ALL safe.

Wow, that's scary. I'm glad you called the police too.

For what it's worth, even emergency service personnel are trained not to approach potentially violent and aggressive people and put themselves at risk without proper police/trained backup.

I hope the children are okay and continue to be okay.
