I was delighted she won the Booker but I forgot to buy the book while I was in town. However, I did achieve a VAST amount of erranding today, so that's ok.

I am deeply grateful to Anne Enright for writing down what five minutes of a baby crying looks like. It was astonishing.

At work today, I tidied up the display with the Booker nominees (except the McEwan, which we haven't been able to keep on the shelves for more than a day) which we've had up for the last week, and put a sign next to the Enright saying "Winner". Then I timed it.

It went within about twenty minutes. The power of advertising :-)
