Two train trips with no waiting at all for connections, sadwiched around a lovely day at Kew Gardens, where we saw some Henry Moore sculptures (Kim to Linnea: "What is it?" Linnea, after much thought: "It's a skulkture," tone implying "you moron.") and many plants, including beds and beds of lavender mmmmm. Linnea was very big sisterly in not allowing Emer to roam beyond the grownup limits, leading to her indignant remark "My am NOT a tyrant!" (Rob's comment: "My am a benevolent dictator?") and we had a hot lunch and I smashed a Thermos. Glass was such a design flaw in those things, really. But we ate bananas dipped in the honey that had been warming in the lid for our tea, so it wasn't a dead loss, and I didn't have to carry it home. That was the 1.8l one; the 1l all-metal one died while we were in Cornwall, so now we really do need a large flask. I shall have to discuss it with the Altimus gang.

Skulkture is such a great word! And adults really should know better than to ask idiotic questions.
