It was good
Sep. 18th, 2007 09:45 pmCornwall was lovely, though very, very difficult without a car unless you're happy to stay very, very local - since Linnea was able to walk two miles to the shop and we got a bus most of the way back that was fine, but we were disappointed to miss the Eden Project. We'll have to go again - probably by bike, or from a campsite nearer St Austell.
I haven't read back on LJ yet, but have answered a couple of comments I got in email. I've read some of my email too.
Today and yesterday I tried to cut Linnea's hair. Disaster, finally ending in a snipped ear, so I took her to the hairdresser for repairs. I won't do that again until it's at least brushing her shoulders; she can't keep still enough for me to trim ends over her ears, and I can't work out how to trim her fringe without getting in her line of sight, which drives her nuts.
Camping with two children is fabulous but never, ever again will I trust a campsite owner who claims one can buy everything one needs at the onsite shop and there are loads of buses. I really thought we'd be ok but we did end up depending on other people for shopping and transport, which I hate.
Also, today Emer got her first proper outdoor shoes. Not too hard, Clarks 3G, boys' style because she has a high instep. So now she can go to playgrounds and so on.
She can take them off, too.
Today's eco-experiment is ecoballs to wash nappies. Wish us luck.

Date: 2007-09-19 04:05 pm (UTC)I've just bought some soapnuts & must actually use them. Though, the last wash was with ariel as it included Kate's school shirts. Say no more!

Date: 2007-09-19 07:45 pm (UTC)We just missed you in Cornwall, as FlybabyFran and I went there Monday til today, at very short notice, and were at Eden yesterday. We arrived at 9.50am, and left at 6.05!
There is a lot to see if you look, but it would be extremely difficult without a second adult. All is accessible with a buggy, as we saw almost all of it with a power wheelchair.
Campsite shops?
Bah!

Date: 2007-09-20 11:49 am (UTC)I just got a 5l vat of Ecover liquid, but we do run through laundry liquid at a scary rate. Might try the ecoballs next time I go shopping at the refill place.
Charles has also figured out velcro shoe fastenings.
