Implantation
Sep. 6th, 2007 08:45 pmTomorrow at 08:30 I get a little plastic tube full of hormones inserted into my upper arm. This is the result of extensive conversation with my GP, whom I adore, about whim-proof contraception.
It's not that I have an overpowering urge to have sex and might get pregnant accidentally. It's that I have an overpowering urge to get pregnant and might have sex accidentally. We laughingly dismissed condoms and pills as clearly utterly useless for my purposes, and briefly considered the injection until we realised that it doesn't last long enough. For a while coils looked plausible, but the doctor pointed out that given what I managed in order to get pregnant last time, the brief pain of removing the coil myself in the bath was well within my means to endure. But she couldn't see me hacking out the implant with the breadknife.
I'm quite looking forward to the solitary walk to the doctor, and waiting all alone in the waiting room. I wonder what they have to read for the over-fives?

Your doctor is very sensible.

Date: 2007-09-07 02:05 pm (UTC)i have tried both, and neither worked, but at least i could have the implant taken back out. (i did have to argue with the quacks to get it out, but it was doable)
