I was with Smile until I bought the house with Keith 4 years ago, and if.com were the people who gave us a mortgage. I was quite happy with them and found the move-to-Smile process very easy (from my old graduate account with HSBC).
I am very fed up with if.com, who dragged out a perfectly simple change-of-ownership and remortgage process into months and months of faff. Come next September when we are FREEE of them and their tie-in penalty on the mortgage, we are getting a new mortgage and leaving them for good.
Our joint account is with Nationwide, and has been fine so far.
we have used them (still have a current acc.) but you can't download statements so I switched to A & L acc. (had one for donkeys years) and Nationwide which are great if you have MS Money.
Both Smile and A&L can do banking a the post office which I think is the biggest advantage ever.
As I said last night, we have a joint account with smile. There are real people available on the phone, if need be. It is easy to log in. I've never needed to download statements; I just keep a printout. Statements are available online for a year. I suppose you could screen dump, I dunno. Email queries are dealt with quickly and politely. I have my account linked with online savings, so it is easy to transfer money. I can pay into any account with sort code and account number. in short, I'm pleased with smile
