We have a new barcode scanner from Librarything and so we stayed up until 2 am on Saturday sorting books. We now have a HUGE pile to get rid of, multiple feet of empty shelf space, and a pretty good idea of what is an isn't catalogued.

And I think the biographies have found their home shelf, at last. They've been shunted around for years, tucked into gaps at the end of this genre and that genre, and now they have a home. Hurrah!

Um. My enraptured post refers only to one wall. It's down to about 720 books now - the paperback wall in the front room. But with the scanner we'll get the rest done soon enough, I'm sure.

Nooo, now we can get all the book from piles and boxes and shelve them. *Then* we can buy new books.
