The venue we booked, had confirmed in writing, and then had cancel on us just before the long weekend - well, i called the person who manages the diary today and what it boils down to is that if they find us an alternative venue, that's fine; failing that, if they check that I can have it in a park, that's fine as long as the weather holds clear; otherwise, I'm very peeved.

The church group who were given the slot after my booking was confirmed aren't willing to change because they'd have to reschedule their booked speaker. Of course, my booked food, entertainment (no, no performers, thankfully, just specially borrowed toys etc) and guests, some of whom are flying in for the event, can be rescheduled? Nu-uh.

I'm annoyed about this. Really very annoyed. The scheduler's incompetence is not my problem, and I don't intend to accept that it is.

Even if it means making phonecalls.

(Also, today I posted a letter Rachel wrote telling the chief exec at the hospital that the brushoff I got last week isn't acceptable - special delivery, so it will get there before 1 pm tomorrow).

That's outrageous. The venue who screwed up your booking should find you an alternative venue even if they have to pay for it... Useless numpties... good for you in not accepting it and letting them walk all over you!

Well done you!

(And suing them might not achieve much, but a well-worded letter to the papers wouldn't have done them any favours!)
