I saw the doctor today. All my blood tests came back clear, except the full virus scan which hasn't come back at all. I am to take it easy and get help for next week.

I was hoping for a magic bullet, but that there isn't one indicates in this case that nothing serious is wrong really. I just need to rest, and gradually increase my level of activity.

Today I slept until 2 pm, got dressed and went to the doctor, slept in the waiting room, sat at the table for dinner. Tonight I'm going to try sleeping upstairs, and tomorrow I'm going to get dressed in the morning and try to sit at the table for breakfast. Then we'll see.

I've been too tired to read, today.

I'm sorry about lack of magic bullet. I really do understand how that feels.

I hope you do start gradually improving and soon become your usual strong self.

Are audio books helpful? I bought my mum lots of them when she was too ill to read and I'm sure I could copy some and send them to you.

So you're officially malingering then? ;-)

Ugh and hugs - it's really hard just *waiting*. I haven't suffered myself, but C has (which nearly drove me mental), and you know, even though most of the time I didn't think it would, it did get better. Don't get disheartened if it's not a nice even progression though.

I know it's frustrating, but post-viral syndrome rarely does show up on blood tests. It can still be very serious. A gradual increase in activity is indeed the recommended management plan, but it's absolutely crucial to get enough rest first - otherwise, the increase in activity can make the condition worse and possibly lead to it becoming permanent. If reading is still impossible, my guess would be that it may be too early to try to increase physical activity (difficult though it is to avoid when you've got small children).

I hadn't thought of audio book CDs, we've got TONS (mostly vintage crime but some Austen, comedy and others), let me know if you're interested.

Also check out BBC 7s listen again, you can listen to a weeks worth of stuff on there.
