Emer and Linnea Update!
Dec. 24th, 2006 04:41 pmToday Emer rolled from front to back for the first time! also, we dake-a-rake-ed the house a bit; we found the wreath and put it on the door, stuck up the Christmas cards, and put a couple of shiny things swagged on the piano and above the mirror.
Emer is sitting up for longer and longer now, and reaching for things, grasping them, picking them up. She has no pincer grasp yet.
At the time of writing (16:30) we have no interwebs and Rob is trying to fix it, which is work technically but since it's for our direct and personal benefit that's ok - no-one at work asked him to do it.
Linnea is watching the Charlie and Lola Christmas Special. She has a cold that glues her eyes shut whenever she goes to sleep.
Mum is upstairs wrapping presents in sekrit. Rob has some to wrap, and then the rest of it can be done after the girls are asleep. We need to clear the kitchen, weigh the turkey, and calculate the cooking timetable. Dinner tonight is easy - salmon, peas and potatoes. What have I forgotten? What?
Who cares?
My daughters are the most wonderfullest in the whole world ever. Emer smiles at everyone - she smiled at the man in the Workhouse coffee shop today, when we all went to get out of the house and see some daylight. She smiles at strangers on buses. She smiles at all of us. She smiles at chairs. Linnea's behaviour is complimented every day now, seems like; out in town with
radegund, at the airports, on the plane, everywhere. She makes friends with just about all the children she meets who are older or younger than she is; age-peers are still tricky because, well, they're all two, and two is tough. They love each other madly; Linnea wants to touch Emer first thing every morning and Emer always grins and giggles when Linnea plays with her. On the plane I was able to have Linnea hold Emer in the chair ("very tight with both arms") while I put bags up into the overhead lockers. When Emer drops a toy Linnea will pick it up for her. When Emer cries Linnea soothes - "Poor Eemah, poor Eemah, iss OK Eemah." When Linnea cries, a snuggle with Emer will almost always soothe her, too.
*sigh*.
