Rescue

I must be doing something right; I rescued the day.

Rob went to work worried that he was late. I bumbled about angrily trying to get the morning started, and discovered that my wallet had vanished. I called Rob about something - I forget what - and Linnea told me afterwards that she knew I'd called Daddy because I sounded so cross. I got a text message on my phone and it died of battery death before I read it properly. Without my wallet I didn't have a list of all the library books we had out so I couldn't assemble Linnea's, only mine.

So I put everything we needed for the breastfeeding group together in one bag, dressed Linnea (with unnecessary force, which made me certain we had to get out of the house even if we were half an hour early for group), found her teaset to keep her amused while we were there, and left.

No buggy, just Emer in the Coorie, Linnea on the reins, and a bag of stuff. The bag killed my shoulder. The Coorie was fine - still is.

The walk to the end of the road was good; there's not a lot to be irritated by on a walk in decent weather. We met M&L at the end of the road, on their way back from the library, and I told her my woes and asked if we could please come and visit for the afternoon after BfN, and she said yes, which was lovely. So Linnea and I walked to the library, where we found that The Head Librarian wasn't there but my Lovely Assistant Librarian was, and I returned books, renewed everything I hadn't returned, and ordered all the Jenny Crusie they didn't have on the shelves. Linnea chose two books to take to the BfN meeting and we went in.

It was lovely. The new sling was much admired. I shocked someone by answering "But I can't do that! How do you cope?" by saying "Well, yesterday I cried all the way home on the bus. It's hard. Feeding the new one in the sling helps." I had a lovely rant to my favourite health visitor, and she had a few minirants to me, too. There was tea and biscuits.

Then we went to visit M&L, where the two Ls played nicely together while I fed Emer and chatted to M and had sweet tea and a banana and calmed. The hell. Down.

Then I emailed Rob from M's PC and got an Out Of Office message so I called the house; he got two hours off and came home and napped. After a two hour nap he collected us from M's house and we came home, had dinner, and Linnea had a bath and went to bed.

We've packed for the weekend at the in-laws'. Emer is asleep in the sling. Rob is taming the kitchen.

Tomorrow we have dentist at 9 am, then home, then out to ERAPA about noon by bus, then at 1:30 I walk to the hospital for the patient feedback thing, returning about 3:30, and then we bus to the train station, buy a new Family Railcard, and tickets to Grays, and travel out. We should be there in time for Linnea's dinner, but we won't know until we reach Paddington, at least.

We might bring swimming kit, if we have space, but Emer and I aren't supposed to swim until after Monday's GP appointment, so maybe not. We'll have to bring a laptop to do calendar coordination. Heavy.
