When Mother Walks
Oct. 4th, 2006 06:47 pmWe walked to Tiggers Toddlers today. It's just over a mile, some of it up a pretty steep hill, and Linnea's never walked it before - it used to take me over 20 minutes pushing her in the buggy. Today we did it in 30 minutes, with Emer in the buggy and Linnea self-propelled until the 100-yard stretch of smooth footpath (she can stand on the front step of the buggy and be pushed along if the path is very smooth and I don't have to steer). After that we walked home via Sweet Masala, where we had a thali, and then when we got home I was so tired that I can't remember what we did for an hour but I know eventually I put Linnea in front of her Maisy DVD.
Highlights included collecting conkers with Linnea, feeding Emer while walking home with Linnea in the pram, and sitting Emer on Linnea's lap in the pram for about 30 yards. Linnea was reverently thrilled to be given the responsibility, and Emer looked bemused and pleased.
People at Tiggers commented that Linnea has grown up and turned into a Big sister now. She really has.
Mary from Homestart came this afternoon so she held Emer while Linnea and I made a cake, and then I fed Emer while she and Linnea hung laundry and got covered in wet sand in the garden, and then we all ate cake, and then we waited for my friend H to show up, but she didn't, in spite of calling to say she'd be here around four. Bah. I assume she was subject to Acts of Toddler.
Then I fed Emer for about 90 minutes straight, and then Rob came home and I thrush her into his arms.
Since then, we have eaten, Linnea has made two puddles on the carpet, and I've remembered to launder the slings before I take them to the BfN group tomorrow.
The big thing today has been lacking is time to sit quietly without a baby on me and, um, rest. But no doubt it will come. I think I'll use the time to read. I can't comfortably read a book while interacting with a baby, the way I can social internet fora.
I want to think of a pun around "fora and foreigner (forner)" but I'm too tired.
I still need photos of self and both children for iconage.
