Got up, got breakfast, dressed the children, made a green madeira cake, dressed myself, washed all the outstanding tetrapaks, made spiders and things out of pompoms and orange cardboard and string, had lunch, sent my mother to the dentist again, made more things, iced the cake (not very well, need to fix it somehow), made leek and potato soup, waited for Rob and Mum to come home, and finally put the telly on at five to five. It could have been worse.

The soup was great, and afterwards I carved a pumpkin; Linnea's parameters were "Round friendly eyes and straight friendly teeth." We hope to photograph it tomorrow. I used a long carving knife, a short vegetable knife, and a grapefruit knife.

Recently, my mother called Emer "Ah, you little chancer!"

Emer said "I not a little chancer. I a BIG chancer."
