My mother arrived on Saturday, came swimming with us all on Sunday, had major dental surgery on Monday, spent Tuesday recovering, went for a walk on Wednesday with me and the children - we went to the local charity shop where I got a brand new with tags M&S part dress a couple of sizes up from the one Linnea already has but otherwise identical - and popped into town alone today, Thursday, after an energetic game of cooking, eating, and shopping with both children.

She's far better than we had hoped she might be.

This morning I cleared the front room pretty much entirely and scrubbed the floor with a scrubby kitchen sponge, then moved everything back in/across the floor. It made a real difference. I also cleared a bit of the dining room floor but didn't get it washed.

We have yet to make Hallowe'en decorations or party foods.

And thanks to a neighbour's eagle eye and thoughtful personality, I've ordered a new frying pan using an Observer Readers' Offer. I hope we don't ruin it as quickly as the last one.

Oh - and we got three birthday cards between us, too, which was nice. But I thought they were on strike? I can't keep track which post people are striking when.

Hello! I'm glad things are going ok. I'll hope to see you when things have calmed down a bit :) But if I can actually be useful with anything, of course, let me know.
