ailbhe: (thinking)

I am strangely, entirely, physically, blissfully, abnormally happy. I spent three hours or so on the phone to my mother, I ate some redcurrants and sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds (I don't think I like pumpkin seeds), and now I have decaf coffee with sugar and rice milk and marble cake.

I'm listening to music on the laptop, it's much cooler than it has been indoors and out, any little bits of tidying I've done had stayed done, I have a big pile of books awaiting me, the only person I need to please for dinner is myself...

Aha! I feel rested. I have rested this afternoon. I have had no responsibilities. I have had no-one to consider but myself. I have acheived a few small things but had no major unachieved goals.

It's like some kind of really rejuvenating bath. Possibly a jacuzzi.

All to myself.

Nice, now and again, isn't it! I'm glad you feel rested, and I'm glad you are getting the chance to please just you. You deserve it!

Pumpkin seeds are nice toasted with soy sauce. But that's probably because you're getting all that soy sauce and I'm a freak for salt.

Were these home-prepared pumpkin seeds, or store bought in a package?

The best way to have pumpkin seeds is to take them from the pumpkin, rinse them, and while still damp, put them flat on a baking sheet. Sprinkle salt, perhaps a bit of sugar, and maybe even a tiny bit of cinnamon, and then put them in the oven at a temperature my mother and Gran won't ever reveal, until they're toasted. Eaten this way, they're crisp and really quite tasty.

I've never, ever, been able to handle them in a pre-pack. :(

I was going to say that pumpkin seeds are infinitely improved for being toasted, as well. We do them in a frying pan with a tiny bit of oil until they start to pop, then add salt. Mmmm!

How wonderful. :-)

That was exactly how I felt during my trip away last week. A fantastic feeling that to a certain extent has lasted even now my responsibilities are all back.
