Saturday, 9:30 am - depart Farmer's Market with veg, after Linnea has finished her second sausage in a bun and I've had a cup of tea. Trike to town centre.

9:45 - read books in the cafe while waiting for the painting session to start.

10:00 - strip Linnea down and get her painting

11:45 - friend who had vague arrangements to meet us "on Sunday morning to do painting" shows up as I have just finished washing Linnea down, having figured that 15 mintues before chuck-out time at the painting group was unlikely to indicate a likelihood of showing up. Linnea and I leave anyway.

13:00 - Linnea and I arrive in London to meet Rob after his Swedish lesson.

14:00 - Linnea, Rob and I bump into Jos and Kim on their way to meet us at the entrance to the zoo. Hippos, lions, zebras, giraffes, and scarlet ibis ensue.

15:00 - Linnea eats for the first time since 9:30 in the morning. It's been that hot.

17:00 - we leave the zoo and go find food, via a Boots for nappies, toothbrushes, etc.

19:00 - Rob leaves the restaurant and goes to work.

20:00 - Linnea, Kim, Jos and I arrive at the flat with the orange football flag on the door. Linnea finds juggling balls, a green pig, and a book - Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. After a brief settling-in period I change her nappy, Kim reads her a bedtime story, I feed her, and I put her to bed.

21:00 - Linnea is in bed, Kim makes special custom-made dairy-free bread. Kim, Jos and I talk about, well, babies, mainly, and breastfeeding, and my other baby-related obsessions, but also about being a white immigrant in England, and Bratislava's water-sprite festival of all things, and nyponsoppa, and laws and taxes and things about marriage, and some other stuff.

23:00 - Rob arrives back, has cold drinks, sofabed majick, Linnea transferred without incident from bed in other room to bed we're actually sleeping in, Dutch hosts provide mountains of clean bedlinen and towels and so on.

Sunday:
4:00 Linnea wakes crying; wakes me (in bed with her) and Kim (in the other room). Rob (in the same bed) and Jos (in the other room with Kim) sleep through it.

7:00 - Linnea really wakes up; first words "In Mammy's BED!" in surprised delight. We feed her cake and drinks of water until the breadmachine goes bing at 9.

11:00 - Victoria Park, with playground. Truly excellent park.

13:30 - Lunch with Gideon in Paddington Station.

15:00 - Arrive Reading Station, find trike, go home, find swimming kit.

15:30 - Go for Father's Day Swim.

16:00 - Get chucked out of pool as it's closing.

17:30 - Dinner

18:30 - Rob puts Linnea to bed

19:00 - Hilarious Dr Who episode which Rob didn't find as funny as I did

20:00 - attempt to self-medicate for nasty, nasty sinus thing I got while in London. My left sinuses are very painful and, er, productive. Note to self: try a weaker saline solution, that really hurt.

21:00 - Assemble buggy, nappy bag, picnic kit, etc, for trip to Kew Gardens tomorrow. Also remember money off entry fee voucher. Luckily the weather continues charming so I can wear a dress and bring a folding raincoat, and Linnea won't need much in the way of extra clothes either.

So sorry I didn't see you - the house was most definitely not toddler safe yesterday. And today I had the glorious joy of trekking around Ikea on a weekend. Argh.

What a cool weekend :) I hate people who make casual arrangements. I like to know so I can plan accordingly. We like to leave the house in the morning as soon as we're all ready, so we set off at 9am ish. The activities start at 10, but it means we can go to Tescos, the bank, the market etc beforehand & everything is bought & sorted. I don't see the point in faffing around at home when we could be outside in the fresh air doing things.

I don't think I phrased myself very well. I don't like it when someone says I'll meet you at the park if you're going tomorrow, doesn't give an approx time & then doesn't even go. I'd prefer to swop mobile numbers & I'd text them as I'm going & say see you there if you're still free. I've fallen prey far too many times to things been said in front of Kate & her expecting them to happen & getting upset when the other mother doesn't follow through etc. It's me, it's prob my PND, or it's just that I would only promise to go somewhere to meet someone if I really intended on going. I'd arranged to go to a friend's house for a cup of tea & phoned them 30 mins beforehand to make sure that they were expecting me still, they were, so that was cool :) Teh number of times we've stayed in as someone has invited themselves to our house & then they don't even come is getting a wee bit annoying. I've even given her both my mobile & home numbers & said to ring me if she can't come. I think it's because some people genuinely think that I must just stay in all day, so it doesn't matter. I don't know, I'm probably just ranting yet again!
