Linnea, pregnancy, shoes, hair and trike
Apr. 2nd, 2006 10:19 pm"Course I can!" is a solid affirmative with many uses. I'd love to know where she picked it up.
"Mammy find it, please," as a command followed by "Found!" when I had obeyed - and "A mouse on a grass!" (on seeing one mouse) followed by "Mice in a box!" (on seeing two mice) - shows that irregular grammatical thingummies are happening somehow.
It's warm enough for dresses without tights, which makes nappy changing far, far easier. I've been wearing sandals, myself, most of the time. I shall have to buy new ones as these were too small last summer and will only get smaller as the summer wears on. I'd like nice wide-toed ones that are easy to strap around my ankles so's they don't slip off, but I'd also like them to look ok with skirts. I'm most likely to compromise on that feature though.
My hair is pregnant. I can't manage it with basking soda and vinegar any more. I can barely manage it with regular shampoo. I'm considering washing up liquid. It's all ok except for the base of my skull where there's a sort of heavy clump; baking soda and all the eco-friendly shampoos I've tried go in there to hide and never come out, even if I rinse by lying down in a bath of clean water and scrubbing it out with my fingertips. It's still oily if I use my old brand of shampoo - we still have a bottle - but it's not matted and impossible. I've bought a bristle hairbrush to see if that's better at redistributing the oil, but it won't get through to my scalp; I think it's fine with fine hair, or with thick hair, but both is just too dense for it to penetrate. I'm thinking more and more frequently of getting it cut off.
Wednesday is my midwife appointment; I will talk about the weird muscle pain I get on my right hand side sometimes, and ask if there are any exercises I can do that we haven't already covered. Half of them don't work simply because of the nerve damage; I send the impulse to tense, and it's never received, so no toning occurs. However, I have been having nice healthy Braxton Hicks contractions, and the baby is moving a bit, though nothing like as much as Linnea did at the same stage (perhaps it's a quiet one1 Maybe this one will be manageable rather than a hyper-alert accelerated speed-demon!), so I'm sure the pregnancy is healthy. It's just me that's a mess.
Thursday is Linnea's MMR jab. Her cold is almost gone so it should be fine. Then on Sunday there's a birthday party at 10 am, and the following weekend is the ETA for our trike. We won't know for sure, of course, until that week, at least. It would be lovely to have it for the long Easter weekend; we can take it down the road to the industrial estate, which will be deserted, and practice cycling it there. If it works as planned we will be packing picnics and camping gear whenever the opportunity presents itself. And probably using it to bring books to the charity shop and furniture and so on to the second-hand places.

Date: 2006-04-03 03:10 am (UTC)I was amazed at the difference in Kate & Holly in the womb. Andy & I used to tap on my bump 1,2 or 3 times & Kate would copy the same amount of taps. We tried this with Holly lots of times & she tapped back, but just with random kicks / hands. My pregnancy sickness was a lot worse with Holly too, which I suppose could have been as I got lest rest & wasn't in as good "shape" I'm not going for baby no 3 to see if it gets even worse *g*

Would walking sandals work for you? I found a lovely pair a couple of years ago and they're indispensable. Just about smart enough for work, okay with skirts and dresses, dry quickly if they get wet, they've been worth the 30-40quid I spent on them.

Date: 2006-04-03 02:11 pm (UTC)We're slowly getting recognisable multiword sentences. "Mummy doit sing" is definitely a three word sentence, since as far as he's concerned 'do it' is a single unit.
