Linnea (to herself, at first): "Oh, where Meemee? [louder] Meemee, where a you? Meemee, where you?"

Me: "In the library."

Linnea (to herself): "Oh, o[th]er woom."

In other news, there's a sort of Shoe Watershed at size 7. Suddenly, there are a range of feminine options available in the wider fittings - colours other than pink, for example, and different styles of shoe. We exchanged yesterday's pair of navy blue shoes with pink flowers on for navy blue t-strap Mary Jane type shoes with blue flowers on. In the shop they didn't chafe her ankles, and they had plenty of space for her toes. It remains to be seen if they are ok around the instep, but our beloved fitter thinks the strap will work better than the ones we tried yesterday.

The weird thing is, she's now a fairly normal size - a 7F, apparently, in this style. In girls' shoes. Perhaps she will never again have to have a boy's H fitting because the girl's H fitting is too narrow.

Is there such a difference between boys' and girls' feet at that age?

Oh, that's cute. And how lovely that she's getting some independence, since she didn't insist you come there, or go to you.

Just a few months ago squeaky started doing the very sing song Moommmmmmmyyyyyy, where ARRRREE youuuuuuu? And then when she'd see me, she'd say, "Oh! DERE you ah!"

She really likes playing hide and seek, but mostly doing the seeking part, and mostly if she's got another adult on her team. :^)

That is just way too cute how she was talking to herself!!

Interesting that you can get shoes by length and width there. Here it's only length. If someone here has wider feet, they have to special order it.

YoungBloke stands and calls "Muuummmy, yar you?". I call back "Where am I?" and he invariably replies "Diding!" and comes and finds me. It's all open plan here - the furthest I'll be is in the kitchen.

Shoe sizes vary depending on maker and style. I usually take a 7-7.5 in most shoes. Yesterday I bought a pair of heeled sandals in an 8. can I just say CONSISTANCY PLEASE PEOPLE!

What happened to computers giving us all tailor-made clothing (incl. shoes) at sweatshop-tshirt prices, eh?

Dunno where you heard that; teleporter research is seriously underfunded.
