So yesterday Rob woke me at 5 am being horribly sick. He ate dry toast in millimetre mouthfuls until time to suit up and go to an interview. Then he called me to say he'd got the job. I met him in town and gave him taxi fare home, while I stayed out with Linnea so he could get some rest. He looked dreadful, which is strange, because in that suit he usually looks irresistibly fabulous in every way.

After Rob left for his interview, but before Linnea and I left the house, she picke dup a slice of his leftover dry toast. And she toddled into the dining room carrying the toast, a knife, and a jar of jam under her arm. "Meemee, toast a' jam," she said.

I had to give it to her. How could anyone resist?

Safe in the knowledge that Rob is employed, I was able to buy Linnea some new socks, and myself a couple of new maternity tops, and Linnea some new trousers, and other not essential but nice to have things.

Last night Linnea woke miserable at 3 am. Because Rob had slept so much in the day, he was the one to sit up with her - he couldn't get back to sleep anyway, and felt quite well again. She stayed up over two and a half hours and we still have no idea what was wrong. I suspect stomach ache or similar, from the tone of her crying and the fact that crystallised ginger helped.

This morning, when we all finally crawled out of bed, Linnea and Rob were both in fine fettle. I had a shower, using a Lush jelly soap. I don't like it. I don't like using jelly as soap. The smell is fine, the lather is fine, but I don't like it. However, the solid shampoo is still working beautifully.

Today's plan is library, playground, and buying bread, not necessarily in that order. We also need to make soup involving chicken stock and fresh spinach that's not as fresh as it used to be. And if perhaps we've all stopped being sick, though I do still feel queasy, I might catch up on laundry and find a pair of maternity jeans that have mysteriously vanished. the house is full of donated maternity clothes from caring, sharing friends who are a size 14 or so, and also contains two pairs of size 10 which actually fit me. Roll on the 5-month-mark when I can just wear the size 14s and have done with it. And, if memory serves me right, the 8-month-mark when I go shopping for size 22 maternity fit clothes again and find them almost all too small. Lebensraum, Linnea needed. And she went looking for it.

On Monday we have the all-important headcount scan. And I meet my lovely midwife again who is lovely lovely lovely lovely yay.

Bleargh. When did I stop feeling indigestionly ick last time?

Is this the job where he had the great tech interview but felt he'd flubbed the HR one? I"m so glad he's employed again. Yay!!

And how could you resist giving her toast with jam after that? It sounds so cute!!

I hope your indigestion dies down soon.

Congrats to Rob for his new job!!

I bet you'll stop feeling sick pretty soon. I've noticed I don't feel as icky any more. The nausea comes maybe once a day for a few minutes, instead of all day.

I don't know what I did, but Christopher won't eat jam.

When he was about 4 my sister offered it to him (her two were tucking in heartily) and was stunned to hear "I don't like jam, thankyou"

He's a weird child. It was ages before he could be persuaded (*not* by me) to try blackcurrant squash.

SO pleased to hear Rob's news! Just what you needed, especially with another baby on the way. You must be very happy. Hope the nausea settles soon. I had it much easier the second time, though that may have had something to do with how busy I was with toddler number one, or alternatively might have been because the baby was the other sex. Who knows? ;-)
