ailbhe: (going places)

We went out to lunch and Linnea sang some nursery rhymes to herself in the pushchair. She's never sung Itsy Bitsy Spider before, to my knowledge, but did today. She also watched N feed Baby Jo and started saying "Nee-polls! Meemee nee-polls! Daddy nee-polls!" in the cafe.

Joined the Boots Parenting Club for more freebies, and bought some disposable nappies on points.

Came home, talked to Rob about his jobhunt, and booked train tickets to Ireland. I'm away 13th - 24th. So time for some frolicking and some resting and I suspect some midnight chats.

And now I am eating peanut butter and jam on toast. Life is good.

"Nee-polls" = "nipples", right?

At least, that's what I'm currently killing myself with laughter at...

Is one allowed peanut butter nowadays? My knowledge is out of date...

Oooooh, I've just realised I can eat peanuts again!

Did you see that programme last night? Very silly woman did it *totally* wrong....

Oh, and belated CONGRATULATIONS.

I strongly suspect that Oliver's conversation is around the same level as Linnea's (he's 13 months older). I don't *know* why this should be so, but he's definitely very intelligent and there is absolutely nothing wrong with his hearing. He *has* watched a lot more television than Christopher (a similar prodigy to L) did, a fact I am refusing to allow anywhere near my consciousness. I console myself with the reflection that Friends' Baby D was much slower in his language development than his older sister was, and she watched quite a lot of tv too...

Ha. Christopher looked up from his book the other day and said "do you know mum, the stars are actually Round, not Star-shaped!" I just gaped at him. I did *not* say what occurred to me, ie "I have explained that to you on at least 3 separate occasions, the latest being not 4 days ago". This is a shining example of one of the major reasons Christopher needs to go to school....
