Tell me why
Oct. 5th, 2009 09:38 pmI don't like Mondays? They are actually kind of fabulous.
I got up feeling grotty, but not as grotty as I have for the past three weeks, because I ovulated TWICE and have had MURDEROUS PMS ever since, but now it's abating, having been replaced by only a bit manslaughterous cramps.
So, since I already felt awful, I started by tidying the bathroom, including the baskets and boxes of unsorted bits and pieces; I've thrown away a ton of mouldy or rancid cosmetics (mainly received as gifts; I use soap, but very little else). I sorted another ton of laundry and then tackled the kitchen. Somewhere in there I fed the children breakfast and ate their leftovers. Eventually I had enough done that I felt able to have a shower and get dressed, and I can report from the tights department that synthetic tights are ok, but behave a bit weirdly when putting them on and off - they seem to cling more to my legs than normal ones.
Next I changed Linnea's bedding and tidied their room, and put away dry laundry, and then I cleared the dining room and library. I tidied all the kids' books (half the floppy paperbacks went into one of these to stop them being an inaccessible mass) and discovered that the soft toy box is in the garden half-full of rainwater. Er.
I also scrubbed bits of the dishwasher and washing machine with an old toothbrush, because they needed it. We had noodles and beans for lunch, which was ok, and I had a cup of coffee at about three-ish.
Later, two sets of friends came around, bringing children for my children to play with, and there were just enough chocolate-iced vanilla cupcakes for everyone to have one and only one each.
And after Rob came home we had dinner and played Snakes and Ladders. Emer won by a mile, because she got the ladder from the early 20s to the late 70s, and another one from the 80s to the 90s.
After Linnea was in bed, Rob walked Emer to Tesco to exchange a broken item. She was asleep when he got back, and he went to Lidl to get eggs (1 doz organic eggs for £2.50). Now Rob is going to make bara brith and we might play Scrabble.
Not bad, Mondays.
(I didn't mention the poo or the glitter glue, did I?)
