Wish List Meme
Dec. 3rd, 2005 09:35 pmStep One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Step Three
My 10 wishes:
- A job for Rob starting in February or March, within walking distance, with no on-call.
- To find out who has bought my book, and for whom, and what they thought of it.
- Really good socks, lightweight, ankle and knee high, mostly cotton, size 4-7
- Wool (or mostly wool) or very heavy cotton tights, preferably in sort of subdued bright oclours, like dusty orange, or just-off-red.
- Surcease from pain
- A positive pregnancy test (see 5) (haha, sending your own used ones won't work!)
- A whole 8 hours' sleep in a row, uninterrupted, after which I do not wake dehydrated.
- Pretty cotton nursing bras which are not underwired, with matching briefs. Animal prints are not pretty.
- More shelf space - this means more walls, or an awful lot of decluttering.
- Vast amounts of interesting dairy-free chocolate less than 70% cocoa.

Date: 2005-12-04 11:08 pm (UTC)I may have to buy another copy for my other d-i-l if she manages to get pregnant, although it would be a bit too painful for her just now (3 miscarriages, and the clock ticking - she's 41 and on 'hormone boosters') but fingers crossed!

Date: 2005-12-05 05:26 pm (UTC)I planned on buying it, but couldn't face it after miscarrying. I will probably buy it for a friend, but closer to her due date. I will probably buy it for myself if/when I'm pregnant again.
Why? I love the poems. For my friend, because I think it'll make a good present (though I would like to see what the physical book looks like - maybe you could put up a photo?). For myself, because I'd like to be able to flip through a book even though they're online.
