Gulp. We're off to Malta for our holidays. On 8 December, returning 20 December. We are going on a holiday. The three of us, together, with no dishes to wash for 12 days, no laundry to do, nothing but lying in the indoor heated pool, using free broadband, talking seashore walks, and arguing about the diary content of food.

We're going to stay in a hotel.

Rob has to pop into London on Tuesday to get his passport renewed. It expired in October. We might all go if someone would like to meet us for lunch. Hm?

Yay!

I loved Malta. But for the entrenched misogyny. The rest of it was cool. And they have three pin plugs.

Ooh holidays are always fun! We're about to go to Uae for a while to visit my husbands family. Though that isn't much of a holiday because they annoy the hell out of me and I know it'll turn into a 'make fun of Liza and Syoma because they don't know how to take care of a baby' fest. Argh. And there will be plenty of strange things said like 'DON'T CLOTH DIAPER UNTIL THE BABY IS 3 MONTHS OLD OR ELSE HER LEGS WILL NEVER COME TOGETHER NORMALLY' and 'No, slings are dangerous. Keep her in the stroller'. And I know if I won't be breastfeeding they'll all make fun of me. My cousin in-law is coming and she does and everything she does it perfect for them.

I don't waaaant to go! But I have to. Sorry I probably totally took your good moment away with my bitchiness. ;)

Weegirl was in double nappies for the first two months or so, to settle down a clicky hip. Worked a treat, and now you'd never know there was ever anything wrong.

Feel free to update us on the fun things you get up to in Malta. I've never been tehre nor even do I know much about the place so I, for one, would appreciate your views :)

Have a lovely time! Hope it will give you all a chance to relax and be happy together without the stresses of everyday life. And that any stresses added by going away to strange places are minimal and easily overcome! :-)

Have fun!

I'm doing nothing on Tuesday, but I live nowhere near the passport office. I think it's in Victoria somewhere. Don't actually know anywhere there to find food for lunch, but there are other places in central London that are do-able - bearing in mind that I need vegan & strictly low-fat. (Making it tricky, because several of the places I know that do vegan don't also do very low-fat - all Indians & Chinese/Japanese places are out unless I know the owner well enough to be able to ask for my food to be cooked differently!).

Assuming that places that are entirely veggie/vegan are ok, there's Country Life near Piccadilly Circus. They have loads of salads & fruity things as well as hot stuff, and you pay for your food by the weight. There's also a place called Beatroot on Berwick Street, which I've never ever been to, but been told that it's very good & cheap. They do lots of dairy-free cakes, apparently.

By the way, if you're out & about in London and can stand jazz, the jazz cafe in Foyles sells Montezuma's chocolate and does several vegan cakes, including the most delicious-looking chocolate fudge gateau. I wandered in there to use the loo and was drooling at all these cakes that I'd be able to eat if I didn't have evil gall bladder :(

We went to Malta about 15 years ago. dd was 6 months, ds 4 years old, then again a year later. We had a great time , once I twigged to give timeshare salesmen a torrent of Welsh - puzzled the heck out of them! I found the place rather dirty, but so very interesting, especially the buses and the prehistoric monuments. I think a visit to Mdina is a must - look at the doorknockers there, plus a tour of the catacombs in, umm, Rabat, I think. I also enjoyed the glassworks. The first time we went I was still feeding dd, and had absolutely no problem feeding her wherever we went; I just draped a shawl discretely round me - I dont know how L would take to that, tho! I found the people very taken by the kids, possibly because my kids were very blond when young. Be prepared for some bad weather tho, the first time we went was the Bush/Gorbechev summit meeting, and it was like autumn on Morecambe prom - blew more than the cobwebs away. Didnt put us off - we went back the next year!!! Be prepared to struggle to get dairy free stuff, tho.
Have fun
