You knee injury made me wince. About ten years ago, my then-3 yr old son Sam locked himself in a bedroom. I couldn't get the door open, and he started to cry. In a fit of unthinking, I decided to *kick* the door down, using one of those cool looking martial arts moves. I tore the meniscus of the knee I was standing on - more pain that I've ever experienced. I think that I blacked out. But after a bit I realized that as long as I wasn't trying to stand on it, I was ok, so I hobbled to the paralell bedroom, crawled out the window onto the porch roof, crawled over and through the other window, calmed Sam down (which didn't take much, because he thought that it was pretty damn cool that I'd crawled across the roof and through his window), and opened the door.
I had knee surgery about four months later, and it still bothers me every once in a while, if I turn my body a certain way.
