Friday night bad - total 3, maybe 3.5 hours sleep. turns our the baby monitor was on too loud so Linnea's in-her-sleep grizzling woke Rob, who woke me; he was very worried so I checked on her and woke her up by getting out of bed. It took well over an hour to settle her back down again, and we'd gone to bed late because Rob was trying to get prepared for the morning.

Saturday morning we woke up early, Rob had been too tired to prep effectively, both underslept, I threw a mug at the wall and we missed Swedish lesson because of having to repack all the bags. So we went to Rob's parents via three pharmacies which did not have the drug I've been prescribed, and one wheel started to come off the buggy.

So we went to IKEA for lunch and had Linnea play in the children's department and bought her a stack of Christmas gifts and generally recovered our equilibrium. By the time we headed to Mothercare we were quite fond of each other again.

Mothercare had no buggies suitable to replace the damaged one. I'll pop into town with it tomorrow and see what happens.

We spent the weekends chez Rob's parents, and his aunt came to visit. She mentioned a news item she'd heard or read or seen - apparently the word "lady" is no longer politically correct, and some MP or other got in trouble for using it earlier in the week. Anyone have any info on this? I haven't been able to find anything in the Times or the BBC website.

Linnea was a little wary of his aunt to begin with but rapidly decided that here was another minion and demanded to be read to. There was also much playing with her new digital camera.

On Sunday Rob and Linnea and Rob's mother and I popped into Tescos and Mothercare to investigate Linnea's winter wardrobe - yes, her second one, again. She grows two inches every time I buy her a bunch of trousers. However, we managed to find her three pairs of trousers for everyday, and a dress and some tops to unwrap on Christmas morning and wear on Christmas day and other special occasions. We managed 15 minutes in Tescos and about 40 in Mothercare, which, for an expedition with both Rob and his mother, is amazing. It helped that Rob wasn't shopping, per se, but minding Linnea and decided between the very short shortlist of outfits I and his mother came up with.

Rob and Linnea napped in the afternoon and then we came home on the train, where we were joined by three young men who offered to sell Rob a digital camera, cheap. They took about 6 Olympus NK505 or something like that out of carrier bags and put batteries in them. Out they hopped at Kings Cross, planning to sell them at 80 quid apiece. Unfortunately, our phones don't work underground, so by the time we were in a position to report them we'd forgotten what they looked like and anyway they were probably miles away. It made both of us very, very uncomfortable to watch. Very.

Home, dinner of tinned soup, and sudden unexpected visitors - Hiroko and Freya, whom we haven't seen for ages. It was lovely to see them again and probably good for Linnea to meet a toddler who can best her in a battle for a toy.

Linnea was fed to a doze on my lap, transferred to Rob's shoulder, and carried upstairs at about 10 pm. This isn't bad going at all. Her bedtimes may possibly be getting earlier and earlier.

Wish me luck with my scrip tomorrow. My doctor phobia has extended to almost all things medical involving me. I have great difficulty contemplating queueing at the pharmacy. This is inconveniently nuts.

Probably too late, but good luck with the scrip.

Also, have you investigated just getting a new buggy wheel, rather than a buggy?

Argh. I empathise.

Having gall bladder trouble atm, and part of my mind is saying "see, you should've just stayed calm and let them take it out", but I couldn't. And even thinking about trying to get it done makes me non-functional. it's easier to keep taking the painkillers.

I'd have to send Squeaky via mail to Parliament, but according to her, all men are "daddy" and all women are "mamas" I keep trying to introduce "lady" and "woman" and she isn't having it.
