At 5:30 Rob woke me to say that he was going in to Linnea. Then he called that they were coming in to me. So I spent an hour feeding her. What happened was that she called "Waab" in her sleep so he decided she needed him. She also called "Door" in her sleep but he didn't give her a door.

Anyway, the excitement of being woken by Daddy is such that we're not going back to sleep, and the excitement of nursing a lively, excited, toothy toddler for an hour when I already have thrush or something painfully like it is such that I'm not going to sleep even though Rob and Linnea are now up and playing.

I guess Rob is caught up on sleep enough now that her little noises are waking him again. Nice of him to share the joy. I need some way of stopping this.

It does feel like Christmas - playing when it's still dark out and far too early to eat, eyelids propped open on sticks but an air of goodwill spread over everything anyway.

Sounds like Rob needs some way of distinguishing which noises you want him to answer and which you don't. The risk is that he ends up feeling damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I'm glad the goodwill lasted this morning, anyway :-)

Hey, at least he’s not the sort to grunt, prod you and tell you to shut the kid up…

I'm always caught between feeling really condescending about telling DH every possible option for each eventuality vs. being really annoyed because he's not doing things the way I want it done so I can actually get extra sleep or bathroom time or a few more forkfuls of dinner or whatever. For us, what's really really annoying is that when I explain things to him, he gets REALLY snitty and annoyed, but then when he repeats himself like three times, as if he's talking to a four year old, he acts all justified when I point out he already said something.

We've got some serious communication issues.
