What a day

I got up and wanted a bath, so I started tidying the bathroom and cleaning up a bit first, and as I was scrubbing children's steps in the bath the phone rang, and it was my brother-in-law to say that my sister had had a baby.

So I cried a bit, because they are all well and happy and marvellous, and that was a bit overwhelming.

Then I finished scrubbing things and scrubbed the bath and determined that I need vinegar for the sink and taps and had my bath and got dressed and somewhere in there - while I was on the phone? - the children had their breakfast. And I got them dressed and their teeths brushed and their hair combed.

Then I did laundry and cleared the front room, including emptying the toyboxes and sorting them out, and moving all the furniture and sweeping behind it, and then I did the hall and stairs, and then I did most of but not all of the dining room. Then I scrubbed spots on the floors and put rugs down in the hallway and the front room, because it's too early for heating but kind of chilly at times.

We had lunch after a fashion and Emer and I spent some time dancing. Linnea told me her dream and spent a lot of time disappearing off on her own.

And in the evening we had visitors and I suddenly felt ill, and I've spent the rest of the evening nursing a dodgy tummy and feeling weird and shaky. However, I also thought of a place we can put another bookshelf, and it might even look really good. Especially if we can manage to actually paint it this time.

This house needs more mirrors; I must buy it some mirrors to make it feel brighter.

But now we're planning our shopping list; it's a three-stage thing now, with Lidl and the Co-op Supermarket and the True Food Co-op in order, for a delicate balance of ethics and pennies. Are apple-growers or orange-growers worse abused, for when I buy imported non-fair-trade fruit juices?

Yay again about your brand new nibling.

I like reading about your days. No idea which growers are worst exploited, it's probably about the same.
