We split looking after YoungBloke if he's poorly. Last time it was [livejournal.com profile] oldbloke's turn he picked me up after work and said, "I didn't realise he was so time-consuming. I didn't get anything done!"...

I've just started reading What Mothers Do (especially when it looks like nothing) by Naomi Stadlen. I keep having to put it down so I can gesture emphatically as I exclaim, "Yes, exactly!" It reminds me of what you've been saying recently about motherhood ecksetra.
