ailbhe: (sad)

Total collapse last night followed by midnight doctor visit and big painkillers. Clearly, I wasn't better on Friday, when I went out and let Rob work.

So now I have to spend another two days in bed. This is ridiculous.

The doctor's visit was amusing, though. He knocked on the door while Rob was in the bathroom, and I tried to get off the sofa to answer it, but of course I couldn't, so when Rob let him in, I was crying on the floor. He couldn't hear what I was saying because he had earache and tinnitus, and he couldn't examine me properly because I couldn't bear the lights on and opening my eyes to shine his little torch in them was so excruciatingly painful. I had totally run out of Good Girl-ness, so when he asked if any illness ran in my family, I answered "melodrama, chronic hypochondria and depression," which wasn't very useful. He pawed at my glands and recommended painkillers.

I expect he found it very frustrating. It was a little scene of mutual incomprehensibility.

Maybe a second opinion in daylight would be good.

Not very useful of him to turn up in such a state. Hope you'll be doing better soon.

I've just realised why it is your name seems familiar. Didn't you used to post to some of the NZ newsgroups? (For all I know you still do, but I haven't read them in years.)

Yep, that's me! I read still nz.general but don't post much. It's been largely taken over by shrieking extremists of various types.

I recognise you from there as well (soc.culture.n-z). I think I uesd to post under my real name, Megan (or Megs) back then as it was before I started thinking about having a baby which us when I switched to a nom-de-net.

There's a nasty bug doing the rounds. I've been in bed since Friday with it (still would be but for my DSA assessment this arvo) and DH was down with it as well. I very nearly collapsed half way up the stairs carrying L on Saturday. Yesterday sounds very like I was on Saturday and Neil was on Thursday.

lol! - *giggles helplessly* - *subsides* - *chuckles*

arrrrh! - i'm sorry, ailbhe, i know it's
wrong to laugh at someone - anyone - in pain - "but!"

*chuckles*

yes, judging how well you have - and haven't - recovered is a pig, expecially when other people depend on you...

as ever, hope you get well/well-er, soon/sooner, proffer e-hugggs, & real-world huggs any time we coincide & you want 'em, hope you're able to get out & into the spring with your (not so-) little wonder likewise and - well, *chuckleagain* + *huggg*

pp.s. - did rob manage to catch the look on your doctor's face, when you came out with that killer line?

Oh, the lovely snark there: "melodrama, chronic hypochondria and depression"

Hoping of course that you feel better soon, if not already, and sending appreciation for the lovely bit of prose here.

Not surprised, the NZ groups just got infected later rather than sooner, I guess. Not that I read soc.culture.n-z intensively, I just dropped in occasionally for Brian Harmer's news round-up.

What a small Internet we live in.

Indeed, indeed, and [livejournal.com profile] ailbhe appears to be a relay (as well as being a person of high nift quotient).

You know Brian stopped doing his news bulletin thingies a while back?

Nope, I didn't know that, but I stopped reading Brian's news summaries ages ago as I didn't have the time. I mostly just read Russell Brown's Hard News now.
