Childcare issues

We have a childcare problem. If I get too ill to care for Linnea, Rob has to take time off work to do it. Yes, he can work from home, but not with Linnea - she needs a lot of watching and quite a lot of interacting, and although he can work with her whining in the background, it's not fair to her to do it.

So they've gone to the park, and I'm in bed. I don't seem to be seriosuly ill - very very tired, head-cold, chest-cold, achy, slight temperature but that's going down now, dizziness. I was too tired and rotten-feeling to drink any water or tea until about noon, but that's passed now.

We're also trying to sort out getting to a wedding this summer. It looks almost inaccessible by public transport, which is... awkward.

We're in the same boat, Andy has to take a day's holiday, so he only does it when I'm very ill. I managed a day at home when Kate was a baby when I had gastric flu, but wouldn't want to do that with 2 children.

It was pretty rough when I had pregnancy sickness & just wanted to lie on the sofa all day & snooze :/

Hope you'll soon be feeling better! Now you know why parental leave is such an important issue. :-)

Well, AFAIK I am currently on a week's notice. Symbian have been know to enforce a months notice on people this close to the end of their probation (2 weeks time), although I suspect that telling my line manager that I am on the verge of collapse with exhaustion should get them to agree to me doing a week or just over. So provisionally the week after next, which doesn't help you out while you're feeling poorly, but is still within the immediate future.

Yippee!

You can always self-certify as sick for up to 7 days if they are arsey... you *need* the rest before you start a new job, really, given than any new job is tiring.
