There's a meme going around about envy - and I'd like to say that although there's a lot I admire about people, I tend not to envy them, since I am fairly content. Later I might envy people who have beautiful natural births, but at the moment that's all too vile and bitter to be envy.

That's not the same as being grateful I don't have your lives, because that's something I almost never feel either.

To be honest, I suspect that in most cases "envy" is being used to *mean* admiration - since it's a copy-and-paste meme, the original wording tends to remain unaltered.
