6 months and 21 days
Nov. 21st, 2004 06:10 pmToday, as we were sharing the fumes from a nice tea-tree decongesting bath (I in the bath, Linnea perched on Rob's lap), she learned to clap.
First she accidentally clapped in excitement at being in close proximity to a bath, and then she accidentally clapped from sheer excitement at having clapped, and then she did it deliberately. She's been doing it deliberately on and off ever since, and although sometimes her fingers still get in the way, there is usually a small, baby-sized clap noise from her corner of the universe.
I feel very proud; such well-honed clapping skills surely indicate that she is a genius, and only clapping so that her ears grow accustomed ot the sound of the applause which will foillow her where ever she goes, fulfilling all my abandoned ambitions, nobly disregarding the inevitable consequences to her therapy bills...
Or maybe not.
But she can clap, my baby! Isn't she marvellous?

Also: what an interesting thing to think might be a strong innate inclination. To clap!
