Friends List Purge

I've got my Livejournal "friends" list below 100 by means of brutal purging. It will continue to be purged. I really, truly, honestly don't have the time. I expect to end up reading my immediate family and close close close friends only.

It's not because I don't love you, it's because I'm going out of my tiny mind. I almost never post friends-locked anyway.

Isn't this what custom friends groups are for? You can divide your friends into "read daily", "read every other week", "read occasionally", "never read", "syndiated webcomics" etc., and then set your friends view to see whichever group you want.

In principle, yes, but custom friends groups aren't for everyone - for example, I've heard from users who say they get confused over who's in which group and wonder why they missed an update from a friend when it's simply because they're not in Default View - and some people don't like to be friended if they're not being read - and for various other reasons, just defriending people you're not likely to read regularly can decrease stress and drama.
